The Dinan M5 exhaust system provides
maximum flow characteristics for optimum power gains while producing a
civilized, yet very sporty exhaust note that is appropriately
aggressive at wide open throttle. And there's none of that irritating
low rpm "drone" that is common with so many aftermarket mufflers. The
mufflers are manufactured from 100% 304 stainless steel inside and out
for maximum resistance to corrosion and nearly a 30% reduction in
weight, eliminating over 20 lbs.
The four 3.5" diameter polished stainless steel tips not only give the
car a more aggressive look but also feature Dinan's new "Cool Tip"
design that effectively reduces temperatures in order to minimize
radiant heat that can effect body work over time, as well as avoid
discoloration of the tips themselves. The Cool Tips also avoid the
possibliity of a nasty burn while loading items in the trunk.
Employing the principle of rarefaction, the design features an inner
and outer tip with a vent at the base. When a positive pressure wave
travels to the end of an open pipe and is ultimately expelled into the
atmosphere, a rarefaction or momentary drop in density of the
surrounding air is created behind it. This momentary drop in the
density of the air surrounding the pipe's exit creates a vaccuum,
pulling the air from the surrounding area to fill the void. The vent
at the base of each outer tip then enables air to be drawn in,
effectively cooling the tips
Utilizing the factory brackets and hangers, the Dinan exhaust mounts
in a factory-like fashion for a perfect fit and clean installation.

Dinan
Engine Software for the E60 M5 raises the factory rev-limiter by 150 rpm
(8400 rpm maximum), endowing the V-10 with a broader power band and
greater road speed potential in each gear. The software also removes the
top speed governor, enabling the cars to attain their "natural" top speed;
and the V-10s WILL pull right to red-line in top gear! The software also
speeds up throttle response, providing a sportier feel and improved
modulation capabilities.
The combination of Dinan's re-calibration of ignition timing and air/fuel
ratios, along with a simple modification to the stock air filter elements,
produces a maximum gain of 15 hp @ 8100 rpm and 15 lb-ft torque @ just
3000 rpm.
Dinan's software also provides re-calibration of the factory "torque
limiting" programming, ensuring that maximum power is available under
varying driving conditions.
The software is easily downloaded directly through the factory port by
your Authorized Dinan Dealer. There's no need to remove the computer and
there's no "in-line" or "piggy back" device to accomplish the
modifications. As you might expect, only Dinan loads the program in the
same manner BMW intended. And with Dinan's matching new-car warranty
coverage, there's no need to worry about hiding the software from your
dealer or removing a device before taking your car in for service or
repair for fear of affecting your warranty coverage. Performance without
sacrifice!
A Stage 2 version of the software has also been developed in order to take
full advantage of the additional air-flow produced by the High Flow
Throttle Bodies, optimizing both performance and drivability.

The ten stock throttle bodies are carefully bored to a
larger internal diameter, enabling the M5 to breathe more efficiently for
increased power output and improved throttle response.

Dinan's High Flow Air Mass Meter and Intake
Assemblies reduce the intake restriction presented by the
stock configuration for a better breathing M5. Increasing the
flow of cool, oxygen rich air increases power output by 21
horsepower, as well as providing improved throttle response.
The stock air filter housings are replaced with Dinan's larger
volume units that have been designed to accommodate oval
shaped filters, providing greater surface area for superior
flow. The intake enclosures also include the activated carbon
absorption material, providing the same function as the stock
configuration without the significant restriction to air flow.
The Dinan air boxes are completely sealed enclosures,
virtually eliminating the pressure drop measured with the
stock units. The sealed enclosures also insulate against
power-robbing heated air under the hood for maximum power
output.
The Dinan High Flow Air Mass Meters are included, providing a
full 22% increase in air flow.
The carbon fiber air box lids are both functional and a
handsome addition to the engine compartment. The weave
perfectly matches the Dinan front strut tower brace for a very
tasteful high performance look.

3.91 Limited Slip Differential

Dinan lowers the stock 3.62 final drive ratio to a 3.91,
taking full advantage of torque multiplication for a substantial 8%
increase in torque delivered to the road. The improved acceleration comes
with only a minor increase in engine speeds at cruise and no effective
reduction in top speed potential.
